We’re in our seventh instalment of our Travel Counsellors video series – and this week, we’ve decided to talk about all the ways Travel Counsellors can make agent’s lives easier.

But you won’t hear it from us. Not when we’ve got real-life Travel Counsellor, Hannah Foster!

Hannah is based in Dundas, Sydney, and has over 10 years experience within the travel industry, managing both leisure and corporate travellers.

She’s visited over 30 countries, and is just an all-round expert on anything and everything travel related – whether it’s planning a solo trip to Europe or a honeymoon in the Maldives. Oh, and she’s a Travel Counsellor.

Hannah has access to both a global network and a local one to help her run a successful business of her own. Here are just some things that Travel Counsellors offer that you won’t find at your typical big travel agency – things that are bound to make your life easier. Just sayin’.

Flexibility

And when we say flexibility, we mean it. Think working from where you want, when you want.

Most Travel Counsellors work from home, which means cutting out their commutes to work (unless you count getting out of bed) and spending more time with their families, as well as their clients.

This has worked out particularly well for Hannah, who has her own office at home, and works hours that suit both her and her clients. She’s always on call, and works around her clients needs in a way you could never do in a nine-to-five agent role. She also has a newborn baby, and said that being a Travel Counsellor has been perfect as a new mum.

“Travel Counsellors has been good for my family. You know – working for yourself, choosing your own hours, and being a mum at the same time,” she said.

Independence

Being a Travel Counsellor basically means running your own business, which means independence, and the ability to work the way you want to.

Forget a manager breathing down your neck every five minutes or stuffy sales goals – when you’re a Travel Counsellor, you can run your business the way you want.

After working in the medical industry for a while after getting married, Hannah noticed there was a lack of customer service. Now, as a Travel Counsellor, she’s noticed that being an independent business owner has given her the freedom to care for her clients in every way possible.

“So I decided – what can I do so I can really look after my clients the way I want to, then I stumbled across Travel Counsellors and the rest is history,” she said.

Support

We know we said you run your own business, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have the support of a big company behind you!

Travel Counsellors get the admin, finance and marketing taken care of for them, plus they get access to a 24-hour support team. And if that doesn’t sound good, we don’t know what does.

“The enquiries are coming in thick and fast. Ever since I’ve joined, I’ve really been welcomed by head office and supported. I feel like really part of the time and that support in marketing, accounting, business development, it really means a lot,” Hannah said.
