Mobile travel bookings on the rise

Mobile travel bookings on the rise

The future is here, people!

Because booking travel is no longer done on the old-fashioned inter web, it’s done on mobile!

Since launching the mobile travel app in 2014, Webjet has seen a surge in travellers turning to their phones to book trips and experiences receiving six times growth in app use.

And guess what? Within Australia, NSW is the most tech-savvy state leading the use of the Webjet app for travel arrangements.

Here’s a break down of the usage of the Webjet travel app state by state:

  1. New South Wales – 29.52 per cent
  2. Victoria – 28.08 per cent
  3. Queensland – 15.13 per cent
  4. Western Australia – 14.11 per cent
  5. South Australia – 5.57 per cent
  6. Australian Capital Territory – 4.64 per cent
  7. Northern Territory – 2.14 per cent
  8. Tasmania – 0.81 per cent

Over the last year, the largest growth in mobile app bookings was amongst youth travellers (18-24) which increased by 32 per cent compared to an average of 17 per cent for all age groups.

Australian Country Manager, David Galt, said that “the digital generation are typically the early adopters but following our app update in 2018 and the seamless consumer experience across Desktop, Tablet and Mobile, we expect other generations to feel more comfortable using mobile technologies for their travels and booking holidays while on the go”.

The top destination booked across all states was Bali (obviously) followed by Thailand.
