Review: Villa Club Corner Residence, Bali

Whether it’s a girls’ long weekend, a romantic island wedding or a family get-away, Bali is the tropical paradise that ticks a lot of boxes – and little wonder that it draws over a million visitors from Australia each year.

That’s with the exception of my family – we’re Bali first-timers.

So when we were recently invited to a wedding in Bali, as a family with 2 young children, we were inundated with recommendations and suggestions.

We’ve heard all about the beautiful villas in Bali but were unsure where to find the best ones. Enter Villa-Bali.com.

The website features over 600 villas in Bali – all vetted to meet their strict quality standards and visited regularly by their team to ensure those standards are maintained, giving us first timers peace of mind.

With an easy website navigation, finding one that was within our budget was effortless. Each listing featured lots of photos and comprehensive list of features and reviews from past visitors.

But it wasn’t until we made an enquiry that the real customer experience began.

We were contacted by their travel consultant to learn more about our trip, especially any special requirements for the kids – like pool fencing, which is not a requirement for us now that both kids can swim but one that a lot of travellers might neglect to ask about.

Once booking was made, we were also contacted by their concierge team.

They offered to take care of booking everything from airport pick-up, car/driver hire, to babysitters and visit by a masseuse, all part of the service without an extra fee – we just pay the supplier directly once booking is made.

The whole experience was a breeze, with a nice personal touch that you don’t get from a lot of other booking sites.

First impressions – 9/10

We were greeted by 2 staff with welcome drinks even though we had a rather late check-in of 10.30pm. Our rooms were in pristine condition, with frangipanis dotting all over furniture and pillows.

With next morning’s sunrise, we were better able to appreciate the rice terrace surrounds and tranquil setting (away from any main roads).

Rooms – 10/10

With plush king-sized beds, all bedrooms feature private ensuites, and a luxurious egg shaped bath in the master bedroom.

Bathrooms also include a full set of toiletries which is a bonus if you’re travelling light.

The pool – 10/10

Being a tropical get-away, the pool deserves a rating on its own.

An 8-metre pool splits the outdoor living area into 2, with a fountain and pool table on one side, and living/dining room on the other.

A lovely gazebo also features, an ideal place to read a book by the poolside. The pool was regularly cleaned during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family.

Staff – 10/10

With a team of 4 staff, all our requests were looked after with a smile. From cooking breakfasts, booking cabs to keeping the whole place spotless, the team of friendly staff were a joy and ensured a totally stress-free stay.

Food – 9/10

Breakfasts were prepared daily by in-house staff, with choice of continental and Indonesian, as well as the kids’ favourite: pancakes. As well as the option to have a private chef to prepare feasts such as Indonesian seafood BBQ, the villa also offers home delivery from Café Moonlight which the staff helped order ala room service style.

Security – 10/10

The villa is located at the back of a row of properties, with 24/7 security guards and a private lockable gate for our own villa. Each room features its own safe so security was never an issue.

Driver/Tours – 10/10

We were lucky enough to be recommended Yudi from Bali Passion who has nearly 30 years’ experience as a guide in Bali.

He was able to tailor several full day tours based on our interests and always recommended the best local restaurants for every meal – and a bonus that he got along with the kids like a house on fire!
