“Please help, man needs his boat”: Teenager turns to Twitter for help to win a cruise ship

Dylan Baer from Iowa, turned to Twitter with what he thought was the perfect plan to claim Royal Caribbean’s ship, Oasis of the Seas, as his own.

Dylan claimed that after asking Royal Caribbean how many retweets it would take to win a $1.8 billion cruise ship, they responded with “2 million and Oasis of the Seas is all yours”.

Appealing to Twitterverse, the retweets began rolling in but some users called his bluff, claiming the blue tick next to Royal Caribbean’s name had been photoshopped.

Dylan lashed back and said: “It’s not photoshopped you’re just using an Android”.

Perhaps Dylan was inspired by chicken nugget king Carter Wilkerson, the teen that won 12 months worth of free food from fast food restaurant Wendy’s after he took up the challenge of getting retweeted 18 million times.

Wilkerson’s tweet became the most retweeted ever on Twitter, overtaking Ellen DeGeneres’ famous Oscar selfie, but unfortunately, Dylan didn’t reciprocate the same fame.

And Wilkerson even joined in on the fun tweeting: “Where my boat at? @RoyalCaribbean”.

But when word got out to Royal Caribbean they stepped in to confirm it was a hoax.

“Hey. This is absolutely fake and we didn’t agree to this. Sorry for any disappointment,” a company representative tweeted.

Looks like Dylan, who still is yet to reach two million retweets won’t be getting his ship after all.
