Drunk tourists climbs halfway up the alps searching for hotel

If you think your sense of direction is bad, just wait till you hear this story.

Yes, you read that headline right – a man literally climbed up a mountain in search of his definitely-not-on-a-mountain hotel.

According to news.com.au, an Estonian tourist named Pavel had been having a few (and a few more) at Cervinia, a resort in Italy’s Valle d’Aosta; Italy’s western Alps. After deciding to call it a night, Pavel then embarked on the short walk back to his hotel – but got very, very lost on the way.

Did we mention it’s also currently freezing and snowing in the Italian Alps?

But 30-year-old Pavel apparently didn’t notice he had taken a wrong turn in the cold until he was climbing the snowy Alps.

At 2 am, he realised his hotel probably wasn’t at the top of the mountain and that he was pretty damn lost.

Luckily, at an altitude of 2400 metres, the tourist stumbled across a closed restaurant and bar, Igloo, where he broke in and spent the night not freezing to death outside.

Staff found poor Pavel in the morning, passed out on a bench with some spare pillows.

He must be a pretty smart guy though because he drank two bottles of water the night before for his hangover (or because he was so puffed out from accidentally hiking up a mountain, we’ll never know), which were found next to him.

A search party made up of the fire brigade, police and drones had been looking for lost Pavel before he was discovered safe and sound (if a little hungover and shameful) in the bar.

And according to local police, Pavel will not be charged for his drunken shenanigans – just fined.
