Boo hoo: Tara Harrison to depart Travel Weekly

It’s time to do some navel gazing and share the news behind the scenes of the team that brings you the stories, day in and day out.

There are departures and arrivals, but there’s less tears and more champagne than the airport terminal.

Our editor Tara Harrison is departing after a not-insignificant six years working with Travel Weekly.

Tara began with us as a journalist, rising through the ranks to features editor and editor.

In that time, she worked on the magazine relaunch three times, ushering in the iconic black and white covers and most recently, a landscape format.

You may know her from hosting the Women in Travel Awards for the last two years, as well as at Travel Daze, Cruise Pursuit and roadshows with Singapore Tourism, Sri Lanka Tourism and Fiji Tourism.

We are sad to see her go, but she has been offered a dream gig working for Intrepid Travel.

She will still be very active in travel with a missive for you to send letters, postcards or glitter to taraharrisonfreelance@gmail.com and to stalk her on her website aweventurer.com

Her final magazine issue will hit desks in a few weeks.

In the interim, previous editor Richie Kenzie will take the helm, and you can nag him at richie@travelweekly.com.au

Travel Weekly also has a new journalist on board, who is doing a stellar job with the newsletter and has already earned a reputation as a quokka expert with a server-melting story.

Enter Alexandra Coulton, or Ali as she likes to be called. She joins TW from ABC News.

Previous digital editor Daisy Doctor has jumped media side and can now be contacted for any news related to the media, marketing or advertising space on sister publication B&T.

Tara is wrapping up her tenure on Friday. Yes, this Friday!

That means all gossip, exciting industry announcements and event invites can now be sent to alexandra@travelweekly.com.au – PR friends, take note.
