This bootcamp promises a career as a travel influencer

This one-day workshop teaches you all the nitty gritty details behind a career as a travel influencer

 THE BLOGGER: Liz Carlson

You may know her as Young Adventuress, a pioneer in the female solo travel blog space. Her engagement levels are incredibly high.

She provides her media kit to the participants as well, so they can see the statistics needed to succeed and that her campaigns with tourism brands started in 2013.

At the Bootcamp, it’s obvious that the secret of her success is tenacity and humour.

Liz is irreverent and isn’t shy about detailing the travel disasters as well as the wins.

This tongue in cheek style led to posts such as “the best hate I got in 2015,” exposing the trolls and comments that an online presence inevitably attracts.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Lauren Bath

Lauren has close to half a million followers, and at the time of the Bootcamp last year, was going to air on 60 Minutes.

A talented photographer, she was a former chef and has much to teach about the conversion to a full-time influencer.

She shares her media kits, rates to charge, fees for famils.

It’s a full disclosure presentation and while the media kit isn’t in the hand-out worksheets, participants are encouraged to take a photo for use down the line.

Lauren is insistent on never buying Instagram followers, as well as the importance of responding to followers’ comments. It’s about never being ‘too cool’ to engage.

THE WRITER: Georgia Rickard

Georgia is a travel editor and writer, having worked for Australian Traveller magazine and Tourism Australia, among others.

She teaches the audience how to leverage their brand through the still-important mainstream media, garnering publicity and credence through recognized media brands.

Georgia is great at teaching the audience how to partner with tourism boards, hotel brands and gain those much-coveted media familiarisation spots.

The Travel Bootcamp is back for 2018, in the Gold Coast. For more details, see here.
