Frozen sewage falls from plane

Well, this is gross. You’ve been warned; if you’re still having your morning coffee, maybe skip this article.

A hunk of ‘blue ice’ has fallen on a village in India from a passing plane.

For those not in with aviation lingo, ‘blue ice’ is essentially frozen human excrement from plane bathrooms.

The frozen ball landed on a wheat field in the village of Fazilpur Badli in the northern state of Haryana.

Speaking to the BBC, Vivek Kalia, a senior official in the nearby city of Gurgaon said: “It was a very heavy icy ball of ice which dropped from the skies early on Saturday morning.”

“There was a big thud and people of the village came running out of their home to find out what had happened.

“Some villagers thought it was an extraterrestrial object. Others thought it was some celestial rock and I’ve heard that they took samples home,” he added.

Reports have suggested the blue ice fell from a leak on a badly sealed hose socket, a part of the plane used for unloading liquid from the aircraft.

Speaking to the Times of India, Kalia added: “We are sending it to the forensic lab to know what exactly it is.”

“The heavy mass of ice, which is not associated with any type of rainy weather, suggests there is a possibility it might have fallen as frozen toilet water coming out from some aircraft lavatory.

“There are a number of zig-zagging air routes in this area.”

“It looks like human waste.”

According to the Telegraph UK, in 2016 an Indian court made a law to fine airlines who released blue ice in the country’s airspace 50,000 rupees ($1,050).
