Insider Journeys rejigs strategy

Insider Journeys will aim to focus solely on the delivery of its Small Group Journey product to China from 1 February.

The wholesaler said strong growth in China Small Group Journey bookings of 32% year on year has led the company to the change in strategy.

From 1 February, forward bookings for private travel requests will be handled by partner Qantas Holidays, and in addition, QH will feature Insider Journeys Small Group Journeys range in its upcoming China brochure.

Insider Journeys Managing Director Tony Mayell explained the rationale in outsourcing private travel arrangements for China.

“Our Small Group Journeys are our core product; they are the foundation of the company, and have been instrumental in developing our reputation as purveyors of quality tours with exceptional insights,” said Mayell.

“We have experienced strong growth in the China Small Group Journey segment over the past 12 months of 32% which has prompted us to remain focused on and expand our core China Small Group Journey product. This will provide better value and experiences to our passengers and travel industry partners.”

“China is an enormous country with an ever-expanding number of tourist attractions and destinations. Rather than trying to be all things to all people, we have made the strategic decision to focus on our strengths, and deliver our group itineraries.”

Mayell stressed that this decision is relevant to China only.

“This decision pertains only to China, and does not impact our private travel portfolios across Indochina, India, Thailand & Myanmar and Japan. It is in response to market needs and where we see the greatest opportunities.”

The company said future private travel bookings which have already been deposited will be honoured.
