Hotel in Review: Surf Sheraton Waikiki

Hotel in Review: Surf Sheraton Waikiki

Luxury for a discerning family. The Ohana suite does not disappoint.

First Impression/ Look and Feel upon arrival 8/10

A popular resort for Australian families and honeymooners alike, one does feel transported to another time and place while walking through waterfalls and fountains surrounded by tropical plants and local art. This is balanced with shops for all tastes and price points. It is a distinctly Hawaiian arrival experience.

Room- 10/10

Perched on the top floor, the spectacular Ohana suite’s view literally takes your breath away. Well appointed throughout, spacious and luxurious, you feel like you are flying over the ocean when you step out onto the balcony. Other rooms are also beautifully appointed and beds luxurious and comfortable.

Service- 10/10

Considering the size and scale of the Sheraton Waikiki, service was flawless. Helpful staff and responsiveness to questions and queries really do make a holiday experience memorable. The staff were excellent from check in to checkout. Friendly and efficient.

Food- 8.5/10

We enjoyed room service one evening with the kids as it was too nice to leave this spectacular suite and with a dining table rarely seen in a room, it was too tempting to stay in. The food was delicious, warm and arrived quickly- important for hungry teenagers. One of the restaurants, Kai Market is worth a mention – the farm to the table trend continues in with a taste of different ethnic foods from the region its specialty.

Facilities 9.5/10

A beachfront Infinity Edge Pool, situated above the ocean level completes the luxury feel of the Sheraton. Moist towels, sweet local pineapple and watermelon samples, and Hawaiian music do transport you and all thoughts of work away. There is also a 24-hour fitness centre, a business centre, meetings and conference facilities, which cater for functions and business. It really does have all amenities covered so if the weather is ordinary you don’t need to leave the resort, there’s plenty to do. A waterslide for the kids in the main pool, massages, shopping, good food. If you want to us the spa, book early so as not to be disappointed – it is extremely popular with its natural treatments, and luxurious products

Value for money 9/10

The location of this property is excellent and convenient to the Waikiki Beach area, so from that perspective, a central location counts for value wise. The Ohana suite in particular was one f those experiences that you cant rally put a monetary value on and perfect for a family or honeymooners.

Overall rating 9/10

A great location, access to the beach, world-class facilities, excellent food options and attentive and responsive staff. It has something for everyone- shoppers, surfers, and those seeking to relax by the pool with a good book. The highlight for us was the service, warm and friendly staff, and a helpful concierge.
