Canada shortlisted for LGBTI Destination of the year!

Destination Canada has been shortlisted for the 2017 Australian LGBTI Awards in the category of Travel-Destination of the Year.

Renowned as one of the most progressive countries in the world, where same-sex couples can marry and LGBTI+ rights are upheld, Canada is abundant with some of the best and brightest LGBTI neighbourhoods, welcoming visitors from across the globe.

“We’re delighted to be nominated for this prestigious award,” says  Managing Director at Destination Canada GSA, Donna Campbell.

“This recognition is well timed as Montreal is set to host the inaugural Canada Pride for 10 days in 2017, featuring sporting events, a conference on LGBTI+ rights and a phenomenal parade. The event will then be hosted by a different Canadian city every four years ensuring global visibility for its LGBTI community”.

The Australian LGBTI Awards showcase and celebrate the best Australian LGBTI talent in both the entertainment and corporate world. The Awards will be presented on 2 March 2017 at a gala event at Sydney Opera House.

“Canada has numerous publications, events and communities for LGBTI+ people, not only in the major cities of Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, but in most urban centres and regional areas, attracting Australian travellers with outstanding shopping, nightlife and outdoor adventures,” says Donna.
