Midweek Interview with Jill Jiao

Midweek Interview with Jill Jiao

We catch up with W Insider for W Beijing Chang’an.

The challenge for the industry is… Ensuring the guest experience is personalised and tailored to the indiviual’s taste.

The things I like about my job… W’s Whatever/Whenever mentality means I have to constantly think outside of the box in order to complete each unique request. I also really enjoy meeting and getting to know new people.

And the frustrations are … As a W Insider, I have to make recommendations on what’s new and exciting to do and see in Beijing and it can be hard finding a balance between being creative and remaining pratical. However, this is also one of the most exciting parts of my role.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… Working in investment banking or the fashion industry.

Favourite airline? Thai Airlines.

My proudest moment was… Solving issues for guests efficiently and effectively, in a way which no one else could have facilitated.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… Spending money which I don’t have… yet.

I try to relax by… Watching movies.

The last time I feared for my life was… Never. I consider myself quite a lucky person in that respect!

If I can, I always try to avoid… Critisising people.

I really wish I had… Unlimited youth.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… To think positively and to have faith in what I believe.

I don’t understand why people… Are unreliable.

And my greatest strength is… Getting to know and understand people.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… Share it with my family and invest in close friends by encouraging them to start their own dream business.

If I was prime minister I would… Feel depressed as there’s too much to do and not enough time, money or resources to do it all.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be an… FBI Agent.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… South Africa, Brazil & Australia.

My favourite holiday was… In Europe touring solo and picking the next destination as I went along.
