Qantas flight turned back twice

Qantas is in the wringer after one of its planes was forced to return to Darwin airport – twice.

According to the ABC, the plane was en route to Sydney from Darwin, before making a return partway through its journey after a warning light alerted the pilot.

Fire crews were waiting at Darwin’s International Airport when the plane returned unexpectedly, where it stayed for a further five hours.

The Qantas flight QF843 initially left Darwin at 1:50pm (ACST), before making its unscheduled landing, but partway through its second attempt at flying to Sydney, was forced to turn back again.

A Qantas spokeswoman said the plane returned to Darwin because of a warning light the pilot “did not like”, per ABC reports.

Passengers on board the flight have been given accommodation in Darwin until they can be put on a new flight.

    1. Glad to see you’re keeping a keen eye out on our stories Swannie – but we actually have a host of stock images we use for stories, and with an airline as popular as Qantas we can only use so many different photos.

    2. It was a B737 which may come as a surprise in that it does not look anything like an A380.
Mainstream media do this all the time….one would expect industry media to get it right!
