Hughes takes helm at Travel Counsellors

Travel Counsellors has “carefully selected” David Hughes to the role of managing director of its Australian operations.

Hughes will work alongside longstanding TC member, Tracy Parkinson, who will remain in the role as general manager. David Hughes

Hughes brings over 25 years of leadership experience to the role, having previously held senior positions at GBTA (Global Business Travel Association), Jetset Travelworld Group and Qantas.

“We are committed to building our trusted travel brand in the Australian marketplace and investing further across all areas of the business,” Travel Counsellors Global Managing Director Steve Byrne.

“We have therefore been very careful to select a leader.”

“This is an exciting new position for the company, as we look to further strengthen our position in the Australian market.”

Commenting on the role, Hughes said the company’s “strong focus on putting the customer and agents first and technology that is unmatched in the industry, provides a compelling and exciting proposition”.

Travel Counsellors has some 1,400 professional agents operating their own home-based businesses across seven countries. The company reported an annual revenue growth in 2014 of $80m, taking global turnover to $850m, with average income per agent increasing by 10% in the past 12 months.
