Travel’s top earners

Travel’s top earners

There’s more than one reason Corporate Travel Management founder Jamie Pherous has been spotted celebrating this week.

According to the Courier Mail, he visited Hayman Island this week to tie the knot with long-time partner Louise, but footwear was apparently optional at the beachside reception.

However, Pherous has another reason to pop open the fancy bubbles, which we figure was after finding out he’s climbed his way up, featuring for the first time on the BRW Rich 200 List at 192 with total earnings estimated at $300 million.

Founding CTM in his 20s two decades ago, Pherous has enjoyed a successful period of late, with shares in the company doubling over the past year. Per reports, his personal holdings in the company is now worth more than $250 million.

Some of the other personalities with ties in travel and tourism to feature on the list included Barangaroo billionaire James Packer who was ranked 7th with an estimated 6.08 billion, Lindsay Fox who co-owns Avalon Airport and Essendon Airport among other transport businesses, took a spot at number 15 with a 2.24 billion estimated worth, and Bob Oatley, Hamilton Island and Oatley Vineyard owner featured at number 49 with 1 billion.

Flight Centre’s Graham Turner once again made the list at number 63, dropping 20 spots from last year. Turner’s wealth is estimated at $788 million this year, a drop from $945 million in 2014, which means he’s been booted off the list of the top five richest Queenslanders.
