Liam Neeson taken by Ireland

As the world goes green for St Patrick’s Day, Liam Neeson shares an old Irish secret – Ireland is green every day.

The Taken Irish star lends his voice to the short video celebrating the greenest day of the year and invites the world to #GoGreen4PatricksDay.

Australia will kick start the global “greenings” as part of the annual celebrations, with Town Hall Sydney joining the celebrations for the first time alongside Hyde Park Barracks, the State Library of NSW, Royal Exhibition Building Melbourne, Council House Perth and Old Parliament House in Canberra.

The annual initiative has also grown from strength to strength globally, and new landmarks joining in this year includes The Colosseum in Rome and the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, Ada Bridge in Belgrade, Serbia and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. The new sites will join some ‘classics’ which have gone green in previous years including the London Eye, the Allianz Arena in Munich, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio De Janeiro.

“Over 70 million people around the world claim links to the island of Ireland and St Patrick’s Day is a truly unique opportunity to reconnect with them and create awareness of Ireland’s rich heritage and welcome,” Tourism Ireland manager Australia & New Zealand, Diane Butler said.
