Accor parks a Pullman in Melbourne

Accor parks a Pullman in Melbourne
By admin

Accor has added a new Melbourne CBD property to its Pullman portfolio, after signing the 419-room landmark Pullman Melbourne on the Park.

Currently operating as Hilton on the Park Melbourne at 192 Wellington Parade, the hotel will join the brand on January 1 2015, complementing the existing network of 12 hotels and resorts nation-wide.

Accor Pacific’s chief operating officer Simon McGrath says the growing Pullman brand in Australia continues to be top priority for the group.

“The Pullman brand holds such a rich history and is highly regarded throughout Asia and Europe, and it makes sense for us to grow this brand in Melbourne where there is clear demand for quality internationally-branded hotels aimed at the corporate and upscale leisure markets,” McGrath said.

“The city has performed consistently well over a long period of time and we have been eager to find the right opportunity to expand the Pullman brand in this market.”

The property’s prime location at the eastern end of the CBD situates it opposite Melbourne’s sports and entertainment precinct, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Rod Laver Arena and Olympic Park.

“With Accor’s existing sporting partnerships and namely as the main accommodation partner for the AFL, it is a natural fit that will benefit all involved,” McGrath continued.

The property will join Pullman Melbourne Albert Park, the only other Pullman in Melbourne, which underwent extensive refurbishments prior to its reveal in September 2013.

There has been considerable investment into the Pullman network in both Australia and internationally over the past two years, and the expansion of the brand in Australia comes at a time when Pullman is launching signature hotels in other major centres around the world.

Accor re-launched the Pullman brand in 2007 and has since established a network of over 80 hotels in many of the world’s key cities, with its sights only set to expand further.
