South Africa through the lens

South Africa Tourism has launched its photography exhibition in Sydney to celebrate 20 years of democracy.

The exhibition features the work of David Kirkland, Adrian Price, Xiao Han Shen, Roderick Eime and Dominic Loneragan.

Open to the public this weekend, attendees are invited to bid on the photographs in a silent auction, with all money raised going to Africa Tikkun.

Africa Tikkun is an education NGO that works with children in South Africa’s townships and was one of several charities that Nelson Mandela supported before his death.

During the launch each photographer told the audience of their time in the country, and the consensus was that the warmth of South Africans left a lasting impression.

The exhibition includes images of street culture, wildlife, tribal communities and landscapes.

The exhibition is open Friday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm at Black Eye Gallery, 138 Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurst, Sydney, 2010.
