Peru takes to the road, food truck-style
By admin

Peruvian dishes such as Alpaca skewers and Quinoa salad will be on the menu as Intrepid Travel’s Peru on the Road food truck sets up at Sydney’s Wynyard Park on October 14 and 15.

Behind the wheel will be none other than Peruvian chef Alejandro Saravia – renowned for his stint as the former executive chef of Sydney’s Morena restaurant.

Diners will also be treated to a mobile art exhibition and the sounds of jarana – a Peruvian style street party.

Part of Good Food Month, the truck’s arrival is also designed to coincide with the launch of the adventure operator’s Real Food Adventure Peru with Saravia to drive the truck to other Australian cities later this year.

Here’s a peek at what will be on the menu:

Anticuchos de Alpaca – grass fed Millpaca Alpaca skewers marinated in a traditional antichurro sauce (mix of Andean roasted peppers, vinegar and garlic) served with chimichurri (fresh aromatic herbs macerated in oils and apple vinegar);

Pork Chicharr√≥n – twice cooked crispy suckling pork belly served in a bun with caramelised sweet potato & orange puree, pickled daikon and malagueta chillies (spicy Andean chilli);

Quinoa Salad – a vegetarian option of a selection of organic seasonable vegetables served with a blend of quinoa (Andean grain);

Arroz con Leche – creamy rice pudding served with poached green apples, pineapple and quinoa caramel.
