Emirates has appointed Bryan Banston as vice president of commercial operations in Australasia.

Banston comes to the role after joining Emirates two years ago as national accounts manager. Prior to that, he had 30 years experience in the aviation industry.

Australasia is one of Emirate's top three regions for revenue and passenger traffic.

"Our footprint in Australia and New Zealand has gone from strength to strength in recent years with the support of a world-class team of employees on both sides of the Tasman," Banston said.

Since 1996, Emirates has created more than 3,500 jobs within Australia, carried over 16 million passengers, 350,000 tonnes of cargo and invested more than $190 million in advertising, Banston added.

"We look towards the impending launch of Brisbane’s very first A380 service and the Emirates Melbourne Cup, of which we’ve been a partner for the last 16 years, and of course building our global aviation partnership with Qantas," he said.
