VisitEngland establishes local presence
By admin

VisitEngland has established an Australian presence on the back of a rise in the number of Aussies visiting the destination.

London’s hosting of the Olympics last year, the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton and the subsequent birth of their child have kept England firmly in the public eye, delivering a significant boost to the profile and the popularity of the destination.

In 2012, 932,000 Australians visited England with a total spend of $879 million, making Australia the second most significant long-haul market for the destination.

As a result, VisitEngland has appointed Kersti Martin, formerly marketing executive with VisitBritain, as its marketing and PR consultant for Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney.

“We’re hoping to grow those numbers even further over the next year,” Martin told Travel Today. “So it makes sense to have someone located here.”

The tourism body has also recently appointed local representatives for North America, Northern  Europe, Southern Europe and Brazil, Central Europe, Ireland and Asia Pacific.
