The development of a new iPad application will see Jetstar's pilots calculate aircraft weight and balance before take-off via a tablet, eliminating the need for paper on board.

It is currently being used aboard its A320 aircraft, with the fuel savings made from the reduction of paper manuals on board thought to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
