Intrepid cancels Egypt tours amid crisis

Intrepid Travel has cancelled some of its Egypt tours and amended itineraries due to the ongoing political and civil upheaval following the overthrow of president Mohamed Morsi this week.

A spokeswoman for the adventure operator said a selection of trips due to depart before Monday, July 8, have been cancelled while tours already underway are being re-routed to avoid potential flashpoints.

“We have taken into consideration current government travel advice have been liaising with our local operations team to ensure the safety of our passengers currently travelling or due to travel to Egypt very shortly,” she said.

“The safety of our passengers, leaders and operators remains our top priority and we will continue to monitor the situation in Egypt closely with our local office in Cairo.”
