AirAsia X to expand ancillaries

AirAsia X to expand ancillaries
By admin

AirAsia X has confirmed it will explore new ancillary revenue streams as it outlined expansion plans for its growing fleet.

Chief executive Azran Osman-Rani confirmed expansion in the long-haul segment is on the low cost carrier's agenda.

Australia and its other "core" markets, China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan, will see capacity increases as AirAsia X takes delivery of a further seven aircraft this year.

The airline's 10th Airbus A330 aircraft was delivered last month. The fleet also includes two A340s.

"We aim to grow our fleet of new fuel efficient aircraft to meet passenger demand and our expanding route mix and continue to implement initiatives to strengthen operations quality and cost structure," Osman-Rani said, adding ancillaries will be a focus.

"AirAsia X is also seeking ways to maximise our passenger revenue, and develop new ancillary revenue streams," he said.

The carrier carried 650,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2013, up 20.9% on the previous corresponding period.
