Jetstar Japan grows international reach

Jetstar Japan grows international reach
By admin

Jetstar Japan is seeking to expand its global reach with the signing of two new agreements with Japan Airlines and Qantas.

From March, Qantas will begin selling through-fares and itineraries incorporating the Jetstar Japan domestic network through a new interline agreement.

In addition, the low cost carrier has entered a codeshare arrangement on international services with Japan Airlines, enabling JAL passengers flying into Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai and Nagoya Chubu to book onward travel on Jetstar Japan's domestic network. JAL already has a codeshare in place with Jetstar on international long-haul services between Japan and Australia.

Strategic airline partnerships continue to play a big role in  driving regional passenger growth across the entire Jetstar network, according to group chief executive Jane Hrdlicka.

"Working with out Jetstar Japan partners JAL and Qantas to create new access for travellers to our low fares network will enhance the growth of our network and brand in Japan," she said.

Under the new agreements, Jetstar Japan will also join the frequent flyer programs of both airlines. From next month, JAL frequent flyers will be able to use their mileage points on Jetstar Japan services, while Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to earn points on Jetstar Japan's Plus or Max fares.
