Etihad Airways will fly daily to Brazil from June 2013, its first South American destination.

The Sao Paolo service marks the first direct air link between Abu Dhabi and any South American country.

“Business and tourism flows between the United Arab Emirates and Brazil have been growing and will be strengthened by our daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Sao Paolo,” president and chief executive James Hogan said.

Meanwhile, the carrier has launched a new global campaign entitled Why featuring television and digital media components.

The TV commercial, filmed at Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island, will be broadcast across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, in addition to the UAE, France, Ireland, UK, the US, India, Pakistan and Australia.

“The marketing campaign shares some of the secrets of our success with a worldwide audience and shows how, in less than nine years of operations, we have carried more than 40 million passengers and become synonymous with providing customers with the highest levels of hospitality and service available on the ground and in the sky,” chief commercial officer Peter Baumgartner said.
