Jetstar cuts free baggage to 7KG
By admin

Jetstar has reportedly planned to cut its carry-on baggage allowance for economy passengers, taking it from 10 kilograms to seven on most flights.

The changes are said to come into effect on flights booked from today, however weight restrictions will not be brought in until November 25, according to newspaper reports.

In accordance with the changes, the daily mail reports that economy passengers can bring one main item of carry-on luggage and one other small item, such as a handbag, provided the total weight does not exceed seven kilograms.

Business class passengers will be entitled to bring two bags of a combined total weight of seven kilograms or less, which is significantly less than the combined 20 kilograms they were entitled to prior to the changes.

If passengers exceed the weight and height dimensions, a $50 fee will apply, with cabin baggage officers now checking guests of the airline at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns and Gold Coast airports, the DM report states.

Both Qantas and Virgin Australia already have a seven kilograms maximum for cabin baggage.
