China vows to punish #Noodlegate air rage travellers
By admin

The Chinese tourists who threw hot water and noodles on a flight attendant and threatened to blow up the plane will be ‘severely punished’, according to Chinese authorities.

The outburst, a result of the Chinese travellers being angered by their seating arrangements on a Thai AirAsia charter flight bound for Nanjing last week, is expected to be taken seriously by the China National Tourism Administration who said the disruption ““badly damaged the overall image of the Chinese people”, according to AFP reports.

While China’s outbound travel sector continues to boom, tipping 100 million this year alone, the country’s tourism officials are encouraging travellers to behave civil when abroad, with President Xi Jinping asking tourists not to “litter and destroy coral reefs”, AFP reports.

On the most recent case, which was videoed by fellow passengers and aired on China’s state TV, the Chinese couple embroiled in the incident were said to have berated the Thai flight attendant about their seating situation before pouring hot water and throwing noodles at her. According to the report, the male passenger then threatened to bomb the plane, after which the flight returned to Bangkok.

While the Chinese tourism administration did not say what punishment would be handed down, a statement suggested that the lead tour guide for the trip be punished for failing to offer proper behaviour guidance and that the tourists be black-listed for bad credit, the news report stated.
