Zika detected in Singapore

Singapore is facing a local outbreak of the Zika virus, with the first case of local transmission detected on 27th August.

Singapore has already put in place the measures to deal with the situation, such as intensifying vector control and public education.

Singapore remains a safe travel destination and the Singapore Tourism Board will continue to closely monitor developments through the Ministry of Health (MOH) and National Environment Agency (NEA).

Currently, there is no travel restriction by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to Zika-affected countries.

The wellbeing and health of our visitors remains our top priority. We advise visitors to refer to the MOH’s webpage on Zika (www.moh.gov.sg/zika) for the latest health advisory and adopt measures to protect themselves against mosquito bites.

Visitors who are pregnant are advised to adopt strict precautions to prevent being bitten by mosquitoes. Concerned pregnant women should also consult their doctor for advice.
