“We need more support from male colleagues”: Back-Roads CMO

To celebrate the groundbreaking, pioneering Women in TravelTravel Weekly has spent the last couple of months catching up with the best of the best from the travel industry.

We’ve spoken to ladies from Contiki, Helloworld, Flight Centre and many more, and today, we chat to the lovely Global Head of Marketing of Back-Roads Touring, Clare Taylor.

“My career has taken me all over the world”

I worked six years in marketing for Etihad in London, before progressing to a global role in trade marketing campaigns.

It sounds like a cliché but the greatest thing about my career is travelling the world.

The more I travel the more I learn about different destinations, which helps a lot when you are marketing travel.

“Lets break the glass ceiling”

Females are still underrepresented. Only 25 per cent of ASX 200 directors are female, with only 11 companies having female CEOs.

To change this we need more support from male colleagues who realise how big an issue equal pay and under-representation of females is.

“Celebrate success”

I get a real thrill out of helping someone achieve career goals.

I believe in internal promotion and praising success.

Ensure you share results and learn from great campaigns to show how big a part you play in an organisation.

Travel Weekly is proud to present the Women in Travel Awards held on 27 November at Doltone House Darling Island.
