There’s a massive statue of Jeff Goldblum in London that you need to see

Many Londoners and Tourists alike were bemused last week as a massive, half naked statue of Jeff Goldblum magically appeared in London.

No, we aren’t kidding. A 25-foot replica of Goldblum popped up near Tower Bridge last week, as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of Steven Spielberg film Jurassic Park.

According to Lonely Planet, the statue was built at Potters Fields Park on the banks of the River Thames, and recreates that time that Dr Ian (played by Goldblum) infamously unbuttoned his shirt after chasing some dinosaurs – which has since become the source of a ton of memes and parodies, nicknamed “Jurassic Jeff” or “Tyrannasaurus Pecs.”

Let us jog your memory:

In an interview with Yahoo!, Goldblum said that the script didn’t actually require him to unbutton his shirt, but he thought it would make the scene in the 1993 movie more believable.

“It’s supposed to be Costa Rica, right? So things are hot and I’m sure I’m in some sort of fever,” he said.

“So all the logic is that we gotta get some of these wet clothes off immediately. As I remember, I don’t think anybody fought me on that.”

The statue weighs a whopping 150 kilograms and took over six weeks and 250 hours to construct.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is in cinemas now, and Jurassic Jeff was installed by Now TV – Sky’s subscription service.
