Spencer Travel one of Australia’s top private companies

It’s been a good year for Spencer Travel, winning Best Corporate Travel Agency – Single Location at the NTIAs, not to mention founder Penny Spencer being named in SmartCompany’s list of Australia’s top female entrepreneurs.

So it’s almost not surprising they’ve added another accolade to the list, with recognition of Spencer Travel as one of Australia’s biggest private firms.

“It’s amazing to think that the business I founded in 1998 has grown so much. To sneak into this list at position 497 is such a thrill,” said Penny Spencer.

“We enjoy an enviable circumstance of long-term, loyal customers and staff. Making this list is recognition that we’re doing things right, and that my team is quite simply the best in the business.”

The list is headed by Visy with revenues of $6.5 billion, and also features travel businesses Consolidated Travel Group (29th) and Ignite Travel Group (485th).

To compile the list, IBISWorld gathered data through primary research, ASIC-lodged company reports and its own appraisals of company revenue based on historic data and industry analysis.

The list includes public unlisted companies, partnerships, associations and private companies.
