Man bitten by snake at QLD theme park

A man has been taken to hospital after being bitten on the foot by a snake at a Gold Coast theme park.

The 32-year-old stepped on the snake while visiting Sea World on Monday and suffered a single bite to his foot.

The park’s on-site nurse and an emergency response team administered first aid before he was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

It’s unclear at this stage what type of snake it was, but has been described as brown and green.

The area where the man was bitten has been closed by Sea World staff and a licensed snake catcher has been called in.

“The safety and wellbeing of guests is the highest priority at Sea World and our highly trained staff undergo regular training for this type of scenario,” the theme park said in a statement.

A spokesperson for Gold Coast Health told AAP the man remains in a stable condition.
