Marriott International announces 40by2020 vision in Asia-Pacific
Marriott International has announced its continued expansion plans in Asia Pacific with its 2020 vision – an aggressive target to have 1000 hotels open by the end of 2020. This vision also could create up to 50,000 more job opportunities for the region.
In 2019 alone, the company expects to add close to 100 new hotels or close to 20,000 rooms in the region, with several brand debuts in Australia, Hong Kong, The Philippines, Nepal and India.
Marriott International’s portfolio in Asia Pacific currently encompasses over 710 properties in 23 countries and territories, operating under 23 of the company’s 30 global brands.
Accor Brings its Iconic Raffles Brand to India with two new hotels
Accor announces two majestic hotels in India – Raffles Jaipur and Raffles Udaipur – in the presence of Accor Chairman & CEO Sébastien Bazin and owner, Ratankant Sharma.

Special rates for industry mates at Metro Hotels in Sydney
Metro Hotels is offering all travel industry personnel including travel agents, hotel staff, airline crew and staff, government tourism body and tourist information staff, significantly reduced rates on accommodation at two of its Sydney properties, until July 31, 2019.
Industry personnel will receive 20 per cent off the daily rate at Metro Aspire Hotel Sydney and Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney Central, from now until July 31, 2019, subject to availability.
To receive the discount, personnel need to enter the promo code TRADE on Metro Hotels’ booking engine and have appropriate ID at check-in to verify their eligibility for the discount.

The rejuvenation of Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) is continuing, with the announcement of new multi-million dollar offices in the heart of Sydney’s CBD for the sector’s peak accommodation body.
The securing of the prestigious Penthouse at Culwala Chambers on Castlereagh Street follows just weeks after the appointment of respected Sydney tourism industry hotelier Michael Johnson as the next national and NSW head of TAA.
The Penthouse purchase is approximately 380 square metres and features a glass atrium, interconnecting terrace, full kitchen, bathroom and shower facilities, meeting areas, glass ceilings and city skyline views.
