Groundhog day: Virgin cans Bali flights

Groundhog day: Virgin cans Bali flights

Virgin Australia has cancelled all flights to and from Bali today after the return of a volcanic ash cloud.

Virgin cancelled 10 flights to and from the Indonesian resort island, after the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre said flying conditions near Denpasar airport were no longer safe for flying.

“As a result of this advice, Virgin Australia has cancelled all flights in and out of Denpasar today,” the airline said.

Meanwhile, Jetstar customers have been advised not to travel to the airport, with the airline also looking to cancel services today. The airline advised travellers to check on its website for flight updates.

Virgin has offered to waive all fare differences for guests who are booked to travel to Denpasar by 28 July 2015 and wish to switch their travel to one of 12 other island and coastal holiday destinations.

Further information:

Guests whose flights have been cancelled as a result of the volcanic activity will be able to change their booking to another date or alternative destination within 30 days without fee or receive a full travel credit by contacting our Guest Contact Centre on 13 67 89 (from Australia), 00 1803 061 2002 (from Indonesia) or +61 7 3295 2296 from other international locations.
