Are these the best travel photos on Instagram?

If you love Instagram, this collection of photos will knock your socks off.

Or if you love travel, photography, landscapes, pets, fashion or just looking at pretty pictures to pass the slow-moving hours in the office.

Okay, maybe that last one is just us.

But the inaugural Photobox Instagram Photography Awards (PIPAs) shortlist sure is stunning.

The collection of beautiful photos has been compiled from over 180,000 entries in ten categories: travel; fashion; festivals; animals & pets; sports & fitness; landscape, plants & nature; art/street art/culture; family; #love# and #nofilter.

Think cute pet photos like this one:

Travel is our fave category – but how could it not be with stunning photos like that? The landscape category also features unbelievable scenes, including this photo of a countryside sunset:

According to Lonely Planetthe aim of the brand new competition is to discover amazing photos that celebrate the beautiful world around us.

The winners will be revealed in an awards ceremony in London on October 3, and from looking at the shortlist, it’s going to be a very, very hard choice to select them.

The overall “Instagram Photograph of the Year” winner will be awarded £5000, and each of the category winners will score £500 each.
