Agents uncover South Pacific Treasures

On Wednesday night more than 100 agents gathered to get a taste of the South Pacific.

Between the salmon bruschetta and champagne, agents met with representatives of the blissful region in the first agent seminar to be held for the tourism boards in Sydney’s CBD.

Previously, the Treasures of the South Pacific seminars had been concentrated on country and regional centres, but a trip into the city paid off for the reps.

NTOs represented include the Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Samoa, Niue, the Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Norfolk Islands and Papua New Guinea.

The main prize given away to one lucky agent with a six-night stay with airfare to the Solomons – sadly Travel Weekly didn’t score the special stay!

As well as product collateral the agents went home with a USB containing all the information presented on the night.

“We had over 100 agents last night which proved a great success as it was our first agent seminar in Sydney CBD,” the ever-entertaining MC for the night Greg Maloney said.

“It’s not all palm trees and white sands, although that’s certainly part of it.”

Niue Tourism’s Richard Skewes added that in all his time working for the country, he’d “never had a complaint,” with the event an integral step to getting the word out about the region.

Treasures  of the South Pacific Incorporated’s president Richard Hankin added that it was a vital event to host in order to boost tourism to the South Pacific.

“We couldn’t host an event like this on our own, so working together has provided a great opportunity to market ourselves to more agents,” he said.
