Thai Airways trials plastic cutlery

Thai Airways trials plastic cutlery
By admin

Thai Airways International is mulling a switch to plastic cutlery following a mid-flight brawl in which one passenger sustained knife and fork injuries.

"We want to prevent steel forks or knives from being used in personal attacks," the airline's safety department director Chatree Pongsak told the Bangkok Post.

The national carrier's safety committee has decided to launch a trial of the plastic cutlery on its Bangkok-Los Angeles route, and if successful, the Bangkok-China routes will follow.

The shift towards plastic followed an altercation this month between three Chinese passengers on a Bangkok-Beijing flight in which one of the brawlers was injured with a steel knife and fork.
