Interest in travel to Australia on the rise

Interest in travel to Australia on the rise
By admin

The world's largest and fastest growing markets are showing interest in visiting Australia’s holiday destinations, according to a new TripAdvisor study.

The US is the fastest growing major inbound tourism market for Australia, with an impressiive 48% year-on-year growth in traveller interest via the independent review site.

The US and the UK have been traditionally strong markets for Australia,  with emerging markets including Brazil, Malaysia and India.

“Interest in Australian accommodations on TripAdvisor has increased more than 15% year-on-year, confirming Australia as a much loved and desired destination by travellers from both near and afar,” TripAdvisor for Business's Australia territory manager Avril Carter said.

"Not only do we see some of the biggest growth in interest coming from emerging inbound tourism markets such as Brazil and India, it’s also notable to see a growing interest from Aussies researching trips in their own country.”

New figures from Tourism Australia are consistent with the findings of this study, which demonstrates that international visitor arrivals to Australia reached 6.5 million in 2013, an increase of nearly 6% compared to 2012.

The results of the study are as follows:
