Malaysian govt vows to keep MAS flying
By admin

The Malaysian Government has pledged its support to the country’s ailing national carrier in the wake of last week’s shooting down of flight MH17 over the Ukraine.

Deputy prime minister YB Tan Sri Muhyiddin bin Yassin delivered the message to Malaysia Airlines and its staff during an emergency session of parliament.

“Be strong in the face of these tests that are very difficult and trying for any airline,” he said.

“I assure you that the government will continue to provide support to MAS to ensure our national carrier continues to fly high in the skies.”

With the tragedy coming just four months after the disappearance of MH370, speculation has been rife over the future of the airline which had already been struggling with poor financial results.

Meanwhile, the bodies of passengers of last week’s ill-fated flight continue to arrive in the Netherlands with discussions underway over the formation of a five nation coalition, including Australia, to secure the 50 square kilometre crash site in rebel-held territory in eastern Ukraine.
