Which countries still have COVID-related travel restrictions?
The world seems to have moved beyond the strict travel restrictions of the global pandemic, well mostly at least.
It’s been almost three years since COVID was declared a global pandemic and, in most cases, travellers can go internationally without restrictions. However this isn’t the case world-wide.
A few destinations in Asia, African and South America still require travellers to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID or a negative test to be allowed entry.
China and Hong Kong have recently thrown open their borders, but while visitors won’t need to quarantine, they still need to show proof of vaccination and a negative test 48 hours prior to departure.
For travellers heading to Japan, a full series of COVID vaccinations must have been administered to them and unvaccinated travellers over the age of six will require a negative test taken no more than 3 days before departing.
For Indonesia-goers, proof of vaccination is necessary, while travellers to the Philippines will need a negative RAT result within 24 hours prior to departure or proof of vaccination.
If your client is heading to Brazil then vaccine proof or a negative antigen test of RT-PCR taken a day prior to departure is required. Chile and Colombia-goers need proof of vaccination (if they are 18 or older) or a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure.
For those heading to Africa, fully vaccinated travellers still face pre-departure testing requirements in Angola, Niger, Sudan and the Central African Republic.
This list grows for unvaccinated travellers who face testing restrictions for the aforementioned countries as well as Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
