Travel Weekly features on A Current Affair’s coverage of Virgin flight credits ‘sham’
Edited by Travel Weekly

We’ve hit the big time, or the editor Dan Lake has at least, sharing his thoughts on the Virgin flight credits situation that we covered on 6 November on Channel 9’s A Current Affair (ACA)

We reported that Virgin Australia was seemingly unphased by Qantas COVID flight credits criticism after it refused to refund a disabled customer $15,000 worth of flights she booked to visit her son in London suffering from leukaemia.

Anyone who’s tried to book a flight using travel credits knows it not easy, and Virgin is accused of making it even harder,” host, ACA, Allison Langdon, said introducing the report.

“Customers claim the airline is deliberately making it difficult to find a fare, and time is running out before their credits are gone for good.”

“It is extremely frustrating, and you just feel like you want a fair deal,” one member of the public said in an interview featured.

“They’re making it so hard, they’re hoping we give up,” said another.

“It’s almost like a once in a career opportunity for virgin to really take back some market share off a struggling, flag carrying airline being qantas when the public really just aren’t that impressed with the service they’ve been getting from them,” editor, Travel Weekly, Dan Lake, said on the program.
