The Wu Walkers top Cancer Council fundraising at City2Surf

In mid-August, a team of 15 from the Wendy Wu Australian HQ banded together to complete the City2Surf.

Personally, the thought of walking 14 kilometres with our colleagues makes us exhausted and grumpy just thinking about it, so hats off to the team for their effort.

But fitness wasn’t the only thing on their minds, the team set out to raise funds for the Cancer Council Australia, raising a whopping $7,341 for the charity AND making them the highest fundraising team in Australia!

As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility program, Wendy Wu Tours matched the amount raised by the Wu Walkers for this important cause.

“I am very proud of the teams effort in both completing the course and their fantastic drive to raise as much money as they could for this important cause,” Group CEO Joe Karbo said.

“We are delighted to be able to contribute to this as a company.”

Last week the Asia tours company announced it would also be supporting Aussie farmers through one of the worst droughts New South Whales has seen with some delicious sweet treats.

Inspired by the efforts of the industry supporting Rural Aid, the team decided that a personal touch was in order.

Hence the “Buy-a-Bale Chari-Tea”, was created featuring an array of ‘home-style’ goodies for morning tea this week.

Staff rallied around this initiative, raising a significant amount of funding – also matched dollar for dollar by the company.

“For 24 years, Wendy Wu Tours has been supported by regional Australians, both guests and travel agents,” Wendy Wu CEO Joe Karbo said.

“We are honoured to be able to send our support, both from the team and from Wendy Wu Tours.”
