The most expensive Airbnb’s in Australia and the World revealed

Teenager is using tablet in his messy room

Since its launch as a simple bedroom sharing app in 2008, Airbnb has grown to be one of the most recognised brands in travel.

While it’s mostly used by casual travellers choosing to stay in a self contained home rather than a hotel, it’s being used more and more by ultra lux accommodation operators, making for some pretty amazing experiences.

The prices for these accommodation experiences can skyrocket.

S Money did some research into Airbnb pricing and found the most expensive stays in the world, as well as the ten most expensive in Australia.

Most expensive in the World:

Musha Cay at Copperfield Bay in the Bahamas is the world’s priciest Airbnb, at A $88,800 per night

Musha Cay at Copperfield Bay

Airbnb launched its Luxe line as the house-share equivalent of five-star hotel ratings, and every Luxe property is personally checked against a list of 300 criteria to qualify. While you can reputedly find a Luxe joint for “as low as $400 per night,” most reach into the thousands, and seven of the world’s ten most expensive Airbnbs are Luxes.

There’s some cachet to being the most expensive Airbnb of all, and the proprietors of Musha Cay at Copperfield Bay in the Bahamas claim it is “arguably the most luxurious private island in the world.” You’ll have five homes on the island to divide between up to 16 friends, and your all-included staff of 30 includes a butler, gardener and boatman.

Whether entertainment is provided by the island’s owner, David Copperfield, is not specified

Australia’s most expensive

Australia’s most expensive Airbnb is The Crypto Castle in Sydney costing A$24,861

Makepeace Island Noosa comes in at a close second ($24,703/night) – a private island reaching the very pinnacle of premium accommodation along the Sunshine Coast.
