Royal Caribbean axes Ovation of the Seas’ Aussie sailings until end of March 2022

With no clear pathway toward a resumption of cruising in sight for Australia, Royal Caribbean International has cancelled its Sydney sailings until March 2022.

As a result, trips booked on Ovation of the Seas between 13 December 2021 through 31 March 2022 will no longer go ahead.

“We know many of our guests look forward to a return to cruising and we regret the inconvenience this may cause. Booked guests and travel partners impacted will be contacted with further details,” a spokesperson for the cruise line said.

“As Australia opens up, we are committed to progressing the proactive conversations with federal and state governments on recommencing cruising in Australia and hope to provide an update soon.”

Ovation of the Seas was set to offer 21 short trips for Australian travellers during the time period, after the line cancelled its previously scheduled international trips that were set to depart Sydney from 24 October 2021 to 27 February 2022.

The cancelled trips included two- to 10-night itineraries visiting ports such as Eden, Hobart, Adelaide, Brisbane, Port Douglas, Kangaroo Island, Airlie Beach, Cairns or Port Douglas.
