Qantas drops past Telstra in least trusted Australian brand rankings

The Flying Kangaroo has lifted off, but not in the way it would have hoped for as the carrier rises to rank three in Australia’s most distrusted brand list.

The gold medal in the list went to Optus with Zuckerberg’s Meta empire snagging silver as Qantas took the final spot on the podium from Telstra – a one-place swap for each company since the last data set.

The data, compiled by Roy Morgan was released today and based off the 12 months to December 2023.

It also named Bunnings as the most trusted brand in the country, switching places with Woolworths which now sits second, and is likely to plummet in the rankings come this time next year, along with its mates at Coles.

Roy Morgan CEO, Michele Levine said, “Bunnings is a brand with a vast reservoir of goodwill and reputational strength fed by dramatically more trust than distrust… Its trust has been climbing steadily over the past year while its minimal distrust remains fairly stable.”

Aussies have their say

A press release from Roy Morgan today featured comments from Aussie customers on why they have so much trust for the warehouse where lowest prices are just the beginning.

“Great products and price and have a no quibble refund policy.”

“Reliable with low prices. Have always been able to exchange products even if the issue was my mistake (e.g. misread the label and bought the wrong thing), or if I found an issue it was never denied (e.g. box was missing a part).”
