Passengers at Adeliade Airport were told to expect “major delays” yesterday afternoon after a security scare saw hundreds evacuated.
According to a statement released by the airport, its terminal one concourse was evacuated due to an issue with security screening.
It is understood there was a fault with security screening equipment shortly after 2pm, allowing a small number of customers to enter the concourse without proper security screening.
Passengers were moved out of the “sterile area” and a sweep was conducted before customers were re-screened and allowed to reenter the airport.
“It is anticipated there will be some flight delays and passengers should check with their airlines for their flight status,” the airport said at the time.
It is understood that the airport was operating normally this morning.
Terminal Evacuation Update: Re-screening is now complete and airlines are boarding in preparation for departure.
We'd like to thank all airport visitors and personnel for your swift response, patience and understanding this afternoon.#adelaideairport #adelaide
