Countdown to 2016 National Travel Industry Awards begins

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has confirmed its annual awards event will take place at the Dockside Pavilion Darling Harbour on Saturday July 16.

It is the last time Dockside will host the National Travel Industry Awards before it is moved to the new International Convention Centre Sydney in 2017.

Chief executive Jayson Westbury once again promised an “even bigger and better” gala dinner.

“I am pleased to share that we have new plans for the venue and seating arrangements in order to maximise capacity,” he said.

“We know how important the event has become to everyone in the travel industry and we really want to accommodate as many people as we can.”

Nominations for the awards will open on February 1 2016, with nominees to be announced on Wednesday March 16. Voting will then commence on Thursday March 17 with finalists to be named on Wednesday April 27.

Judging will then begin on Monday May 16, with the winners to be revealed on the industry “night of nights”.

Qantas will once again be the major sponsor of the awards in 2016.
