CLIA LIVE cruises into Auckland
Edited by Travel Weekly

Australasia’s biggest annual training showcase for cruise specialists culminated in Auckland this week as Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) hosted the final event in its sold-out CLIA LIVE series for 2023.

The popular seminar sessions have now visited six cities across Australia and New Zealand this year, bringing record numbers of CLIA travel agents together for in-person training from dozens of leading cruise brands.

Around 70 New Zealand CLIA members joined this week’s event – held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Four Points by Sheraton Auckland – where they heard product updates, news and sales advice from 27 cruise brands.

CLIA director of membership & events in Australasia Marita Nosic said CLIA LIVE had attracted very high interest in New Zealand as travel agents worked to capitalise on cruising’s worldwide revival.

“We’ve had a fantastic turn-out in Auckland this year, including many agents who flew in from other parts of the country,” Nosic said.

Virtually every cruise brand has had exciting opportunities and new developments to talk about, so agents will take home a lot of practical insight to help them grow their cruise sales in a thriving market.”

More than 550 tickets were sold for CLIA LIVE events across the region this year, a record for the series. The two-day events have been held in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and now Auckland, each operating at full capacity.

CLIA LIVE will return in 2024, exclusively for CLIA travel agent members. Dates will be announced later this year.
