Aviation’s world record boasts

    Aviation’s world record boasts

You now know all about the longest flight in the world, but what are some other title-busting accolades among the aviation industry? You’re about to find out.

    1. The world’s shortest flight lasts only 47 seconds. It is run by Scottish regional airline Loganair.

    2. Denver International Airport has been declared the most bizarre and even ‘pure evil,’ with its apocalyptic warhorse statues and runways appearing like the Swastika.

    4. Small yet dangerous, Princess Juliana Airport on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin is the world’s most risky airport, with planes flying low over tourists on Maho Beach.

    5. Unusual? Perhaps, but in Qatar’s new international airport stands a $6.8 million yellow teddy bear – the first of many unusual artworks planned for the airport.

    6. Costing each plane $US7000 (AUD$8832) to land, Haneda Airport in Toyko takes the cake for the most punctual but expensive airport to land at globally.

    7. The world’s busiest airport, for the 16th successive year, remains Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in the US city of Atlanta, boasting over 95 million passengers.

    8. In 2014, the Federal Aviation Administration put out a list of the world’s highest-risk flight paths. Areas of high danger include Syria, Iran, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Atlanta Airport9. Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai is set to be the world’s largest airport, announcing a US$32 billion (AUD$40.4 billion) expansion last year.

    10. The most luxurious and exclusive airport lounge on earth is the Royal First Lounge in Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. It features luxury spas, music areas, and a la carte caterers.

Royal First Lounge11. The quirkiest airport in the world? Try Kansai International Airport. It’s located on an artificial island in Osaka Bay that is reputedly sinking and is even visible from space.

    12. The world’s coolest airport? Changi Airport in Singapore stakes a strong claim, boasting gardens, a diverse range of shops and an award-winning hotel.
